Best fake tans for your face for a natural-looking glow this spring

What is face tan?

Face tans are self-tanners that have been specifically formulated for your face.

This means they are made using ingredients that shouldn’t clog your pores or break you out and will look great under makeup. The blend of ingredients used in most of these tanners should work well alongside your regular skincare routine, and many of them contain hydrating, nourishing ingredients that care for your skin as well as adding some colour.

Can I just use my body tan on my face?

If your skin isn’t sensitive or prone to breakouts, sure. If you are more on the sensitive side, however, it’s best to stick to products that have been formulated to be gentle.

Fake tans formulated for your body are still skin-friendly, but they can sometimes look a little unnaturally dark when used on your face. Usually, your face is a bit lighter than the rest of your body so being one homogenous colour from head to toe can make it obvious your tan is fake. Also, body tans often aren’t infused with skincare in the same way many face tans are, so you won’t get those same hydrating and nourishing benefits.

DON’T MISS:

How long will the colour last?

This depends on the product. Most tans last a few days to a week, max. With gradual face tans, you can build the colour up over a few days and use the tan regularly to keep the glow going indefinitely.

Will my face turn orange?

As long as you follow the instructions and don’t go overboard on the amount of product you use, the colour shouldn’t be any more than a natural glow. If you’re nervous, you can always test the tan on a patch of skin that’s more inconspicuous than your face to make sure you like the shade.
