How to stretch like Captain Marvel, from Brie Larson herself


Stretching is the unsung hero of working out, but it’s almost as important as your sweat session. It’s vital for Captain Marvel star Brie Larson, who took fans through her super quick, daily stretch routine.

Being a superhero isn’t all about super-strength, you need to be nimble and flexible, too. Brie Larson knows a thing or two about this, having starred as Carol Danvers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in The Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel.

She recently took fans through a simple, eight-ish-minute stretch routine that “is great for mornings, before workouts, as you’re winding down your day, or if somebody like me, you’re like me who is spending the majority of their day sitting at a desk in Zoom all day”.

“It’s good to incorporate a few stretches to be kind to yourself,” she said.

The 31-year-old does a lot of stunt training and action-packed fight sequences during filming, but it’s the time in-between shots where they’re moving cameras around that her body starts to cool down.

“You start to cool down, so you have to keep finding ways to stay limber because that’s when injuries happen,” she said.

Her routine is as follows, which, she says you can even do while watching TV. We like the sound of that.

Brie Larson’s super quick stretching routine

Hold each pose for 15-30 seconds.

1. Toe sits (breathing, checking in on your posture)

2. Cat cows

3. Thread the needle, both sides

4. Child’s pose

5. Cobra

6. Downward dog and peddling

7. Half scorpion

8. Runner’s lunge

9. Lower pushup, back to Downward dog and repeat the 6-9 on the other side

10. Child’s pose

11. Reclined pigeon, both sides.

12. Forward fold

13. Half lotus
